I've been trying to learn this full song for like a year now. I have like half of it down

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bSP8c3Apz4

I'm learning this song right now idk if you would consider it metal though but it's pretty heavy for joe satriani haha

Joe Satriani isn't a blues player. he plays everything, If he only played metal he would be one of the best metal guitarists ever. Idk if you have heard most of his songs all the way through but they have some crazy ass licks. He's hands down the best guitarists I've ever heard

Dream Theater is by far the most technical band (all their members averaged out) I have ever heard. Pantera is amazing try listening to their album far beyond driven... very good. Symphony X is another pretty good progressive metal band. Mudvayne, Primus, and theirs this new band in my area called Sick Puppies they have a pretty good bass player. (+1 their bass player is a girl)

+1 to dream theatre, their guitar player John Petrucci is amazing. Primus lol, they have the most unique sound ever you have to have that certain taste to really like em, and I love them.

We're talking about metal and no one has listed Slayer yet? dang...

Lol i haven't listened to slayer in a while... very good. Cannibal Corpse is pretty good as well. Slipknot (i know its nu-metal..) puts on a damn good show. I got to see them last may (i think?) when they were touring in Missouri. Midwest ftw!!

My metal band Vendetta has been working and we've come up with 3 songs, almost four in the past 2 months. I play bass.

I also like In Flames they have great songs like cloud connected & trigger among many others.

Also Sonic Syndicate has many good songs I never tire of.

This one I picked off from someone's sig.

Here's some bands I've been into lately:

Kataklysm - Shivers Of A New World

Decapitated - The Eye of Horus

Amon Amarth - The Beheading of a King

Hypocrisy - Through The Window Of Time

Enslaved - Vetrarnótt

Opeth - April Ethereal

And all sorts of other melodic/progressive/technical death, folk, thrash, power, and some black metal bands. Don't really get to listen to metal as often as I like anymore since the gf always complains about it but whatever lol
